Ruby Rattery Adoption Agreement
Basic Rat Care
As a new rat owner you are now required to do the following: - Ensure the rat(s) has fresh, clean and nutritionally complete food and fresh water available at all times.
- Ensure the rat(s) lives in a clean and healthy environment.
- Ensure that the rat(s) has adequate space to move freely and exercise, without pain and constriction.
- Ensure that the rat(s) recieves proper veterinary care when required.
- Never abandon/set free the rat(s).
- Provide the rat(s) with the affection and stimulation needed by a living creature on a daily basis.
- Treat the rat(s) humanely at all times, and supervise any children handling or caring for the
rat(s). - Male and female rats must not be housed together unless all the males or all the females are de-sexed in the group.
- Rat(s) purchased from me are NOT under any circumstances to be used for mass breeding, breeding for pet stores, or in any other manner contrary to my beliefs, or feeder breeding and/or for any food.
- Do not use pine/cedar/aspen wood shavings of
any kind as it causes severe respiratory problems in rats. Please use either shredded newspaper, breeders choice cat litter, white plain paper, or cotton towels/sheets for their bedding/cage covering needs. - Adopter agrees to keep the cage at a certain level of cleanliness at ALL times, and also agrees to remove the rat(s) at the time of cleaning and to properly disinfect the cage, i recommend a mixture of hot water and plain undiluted bleach
(approx 1 part bleach to 30 parts water ) and/or white vinegar - Please update me on the health/temperment and date of death of your adpoted rat(s), so that i can always track and record the health and life expectancy of my rats and lines.
Pet homes - They must not be bred from at any stage of their life time.
Breeding homes
Girls/doe's: - They must not be bred more than 2 times in their life time
- They must not be bred under 8 months old and not over 12 months if they haven't had their first litter between 8 months and 12 months they are not to be bred.
- They must have at least a 4 month break between litters, the 4 month period begins after all the pups have reached 6 weeks old
- I URGE you that all pups born from any rat(s) purchased from me be put in suitable homes only, but i cannot force you do so. They should not be sold as feeders, feeder breeders, or to ANY pet shop.
- After the doe has given birth, and during the doe's weaning any bucks should not be allowed to come in contact with the doe and babies, as the doe can become pregnant IMMEDIATELY after giving birth, and the pups can become pregnant/impregnate there mother/sisters at 5 weeks of age.
- You MUST contact me first if you wish to breed any of
my rats to a pet shop/rescue rat (although i typically do not reccomend it)
Boys/ buck's: - They must not be bred under 10 months old
- They must not be studed to any feeder breeder, mass breeder or pet shop.
- If you wish to stud any rat(s) to another breeder, contact me FIRST!!!
The person that has signed this agreement is the ONLY person allowed to breed adopted rat(s) from me. Any rat(s) adopted from Ruby Rattery must not be re homed, re sold or traded without my permission.
If for any reason you are not able to keep your rat(s) bred by Ruby Rattery, you must contact me and I will take them back. No money will be refunded. I breed my rats with health being the first priority, and then temperment and colour/coat pattern, I cannot however completley guaruntee that your rat will be perfectly healthy throughout its whole lifetime, no breeder can. If for temperment and health reasons you are not happy with your new rat(s) you may contact me and i will take them back to be rehomed or i will keep them in my rattery. No money will be refunded. I reserve the right to void this contract if any/all of the conditions are not followed. I know that there are a lot of restrictions in this listed agreement, but it is my responsibility to insure the correct care and/or breeding of the rat breed and my lines, i do not allow my rats to be bred irresponsibly. There is a certain amount of trust that i am giving to you, and i expect the same kind of respect to be given to me and my lines and/or rat(s) adopted from me. By signing this contract you are agreeing to all parts of it.
If for any reason you do not follow this agreement I have the right to take legal action.
I reserve the right to not sell you any rat(s) for any reason.
