The Adoption Process

If you wish to adopt babies from me, please read most if not all of my site, and fill in and submit the Adoption Application. You will then be put on my waiting list for babies that you have described in your adoption application. Once the babies are between 1-2 weeks old, i will add there individual photos to my website, and you may choose the babies you wish to reserve by emailing or calling me. I only adopt out babies in same sex pairs (unless you already own a rat of the same sex) because they are extremely social creatures and need the company of there own kind to be truly happy.

Once the babies you have reserved are 6 weeks old, they are ready and mature enough to be able to cope with going to there new home. Please email or call me and let me know when you would like to pick up your babies. You will have to travel out to me in Churchill, Victoria to pick up your babies. Please bring your own baby proof carrier.

You also have the option of being able to purchase (for a small cost of $2 for ink and paper) the babies neatly printed colour birth certificate or pedigree (if applicable).

All babies adopted from me will come with a 24 hour sample of there current diet and ofcourse support for the lifetime of your ratties and beyond.

In the way of pricing for my rats, i charge $25 for any rat that i sell, to help stop impulse buying of rats, and because i believe that no matter what colour, or pattern, all rats should be treated equal, i dont sell one for a higher price just because it is "prettier". I do not over charge or under charge for my rats, i believe that the price i charge is a good price as i have talked to many well known breeders, and they charge the same price. Too little a price and you are obviouslty getting low quality rats that have been bred randomly, underage ect. and in large quaitities. Too high a price and the breeder is obviously trying to sell for profit.

About my babies

All of my babies will be very well socialized and friendly and will have been handled from 24-48 hours old, they will have been socialized with dogs and children, loud noises, other rats ect.

I am not a pet store, i normally do NOT have baby ratties available right away as soon as you enquire, from the time of conception it takes 9 weeks before the ratlets are ready to go to there new homes. Whatever little money i make of the sale of my babies, i put right back into my rattery 10 fold, for food, toys , housing and vet bills, there is no way i could ever make enough money to cover the costs completley, it is a labor of love.

I rarely breed rats from undocumented lines, and only if they meet strict approval, only if they are healthy, there temperment is absolutley amazing, and there physical condition is paramount. But apart from that i usually breed pedigreed rats from reputable breeders that have at least 2-3 generations recorded.

If i don't have babies available at a particular time that you inquire, i would be happy to point you in the direction of a couple of my fellow breeders who have lovely bubs.
